Build to 2030

Our strategy to scale climate innovation
| January 2026 - December 2029

Our Strategy

Our ambition is to be the most catalytic nonprofit in climate.

We are growing a portfolio of exceptional entrepreneurs and a more engaged innovation ecosystem around them—one capable of bringing the most important climate technologies to market and into communities at the speed this moment requires. Our four goals:

    1. Invest in exceptional entrepreneurs so that the best solutions don’t fail on the way to scale.
    2. Activate high-impact partners to responsibly and rapidly deploy new technologies in communities.
    3. Elevate innovation as a central climate and community story.
    4. Scale with purpose so that every philanthropic dollar unlocks more innovation and impact.

Our Opportunity

This is the moment for entrepreneurs and communities to build together.

Entrepreneurs are our navigators. They build through regulatory hurdles, capital gaps, and first-of-a-kind deployments to make energy more affordable, strengthen supply chains, help farmers adapt, and create jobs. By helping them scale, we can help shape a more resilient future.

Communities are essential partners in this work. They are living experts and keepers of knowledge around what is likely to succeed in their homes, neighborhoods, and workplaces. We engage them early because lasting climate progress depends on solutions that work in communities, markets, and systems shaped by local realities.

The defining challenge of this next era is not innovation alone, but implementation. We see an urgent opportunity to grow our collective ability to turn philanthropic capital into deployed technologies, stronger markets, and measurable benefits for communities. This strategy will guide our work through the end of the decade, when Elemental marks its 20th anniversary. We invite you to dig in and join us.
