Justin Marquez headshot

Justin is a coalition-builder, working at the intersection of climate innovation and community equity. Through championing Elemental’s Square Partnership Model, he facilitates collaborative relationships between Elemental, portfolio companies, and frontline communities. Justin also manages the Equity is Dynamic Community of Practice, bringing together stakeholders to share best practices and learn together as they work towards operationalizing equity within their organizations, starting with climate tech startups. In partnership with the Equity & Access and Portfolio Teams, he helps Elemental companies understand and apply the principles of Equity In & Equity Out to their project deployment, product, and operations.

Prior to Elemental Excelerator

Justin worked at Marin Clean Energy (MCE), California’s first community choice aggregation program, a public agency providing clean electric generation service and programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. He led MCE’s environmental justice and equity initiatives and worked together with community advocates, businesses, and local government to advance mutual climate and environmental justice goals. Justin also served as an AmeriCorps CivicSpark Fellow for the City of El Cerrito working on the City’s climate action plan. Justin is a proud alum of Northwestern University where he studied economics, environmental policy and culture, and sustainable energy.

Outside of the office

Justin is an avid homecook, singer and hip-hop dancer, and you’ll likely find him at home grilling Filipino BBQ for family and friends.
