Rich (Richard) Chen

Rich focuses on supporting the next phase of growth for Elemental, working cross-functionally on a variety of initiatives such as compliance, impact reporting, and systems oversight to streamline operations.

Rich has a diverse 20+ year background working across Finance, Technology, Data and Risk helping Financial Services, Consumer Technology, Start-up organizations implement strategic programs, expand business, grow teams, deliver operational enhancements and gain efficiencies. Directly prior to Elemental, Rich was SVP at Bank of America where he spent 16 years and was most recently responsible for Agile portfolio delivery and program management helping lay the technology foundation for Climate Risk management and Sustainability reporting, building out BofA’s platform for climate-related data. Before that, Rich was Managing Director and Business Unit Head for ONKYO Corporation, where he led China & South Asia business growth, all functions, and CFO oversight. Rich received his MBA from INSEAD, completed GARP’s Sustainability & Climate Risk certificate program, and is a Certified Scrum Master and Release Train Engineer. Rich also holds a M.Sc in Accounting & B.Sc – Finance & Accounting, both from Boston College.

Rich enjoys travel and experiencing culinary adventures, having lived in 9 countries and worked across 25+ different cultures. You’ll find him enjoying nature with his family, adoring his fur baby, appreciating life under water, and exploring new places and recipes that inspire him.
