Ford Motor Company is no stranger to the concept of scale. More than a century ago, its leadership completely transformed the concept of large-scale manufacturing and workforce management so dramatically that its impact was felt worldwide.
Nowadays, Ford is focused on a different type of transformation, shifting its production towards a more sustainable transportation future for us all. Recently, the company announced a planned future investment of $30 billion through 2025 towards electrification of its fleet of vehicles as well as charging and energy services, along with continued commitment towards responsible sourcing of raw materials for its manufacturing activities.
Today, we’re pleased to announce that Elemental Excelerator, and its portfolio of climate-tech entrepreneurs, will be a part of that future.
As a member of Elemental Navigator, Ford and Elemental will work together to source opportunities to test and deploy priority sustainable technology innovations in a manner that dramatically improves time-to-market. We’ll identify relevant startups from within our existing portfolio of investments and those in our applicant pipeline, helping inspire future solutions while simultaneously identifying gaps in the marketplace that the Elemental community can look to fill.
Like Elemental, Ford recognizes that there is no better time than now to invest in climate technologies, and this collaboration brings each of our organizations closer to our goal of dramatically impacting the systems at the root of climate change in an equitable and effective manner. And with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reiterating that transportation is one of the largest sources of global emissions, along with energy and industry, this is the perfect time for us to engage with an organization with the innovative history of Ford to solve one of the biggest problems of our time.
“As a society, contributing to meaningful climate solutions is our collective responsibility, and Ford is proud to be enacting bold changes across our business and supply chains.” said Cynthia Williams, Global Director, Sustainability, Homologation & Compliance, Ford Motor Company. “Our path to becoming a carbon neutral company by 2050 means not just addressing our products and operations, but also working with innovative partners to drive real change.”
“We’re excited to collaborate with Ford, a company that brings more than 100 years of innovation to the table,” said Aneri Pradhan, Senior Partnerships Manager at Elemental Excelerator. “They’ll certainly have a significant impact on our efforts to scale climate innovation for years to come, and we look forward to the types of collaborations this relationship brings to life.”
